At present, the mainstream cameras are basically digital cameras, so the use of analog cameras + analog video capture cards is relatively small, most of the projects are using digital cameras + digital video capture cards. So, how to choose the industrial camera acquisition card?

          First of all, we need to consider the camera's data output interface. The common interfaces include USB2.0, USB3.0, 1394a, 1394b and other new data interfaces such as nbase-t, coaxpress, Cameralink HS, etc. Then we need to consider choosing different digital video capture cards.

          USB2.0 industrial camera acquisition card

          For the USB2.0 interface, it's usually brought by the computer. Generally speaking, there is no need to buy additional video capture card. Therefore, the cost of this interface camera and video capture card is the lowest. But the stability and speed of these cameras are not as good as those of other cameras. Note here that for some new USB3.0 interfaces, if you connect the USB2.0 camera, you may not find the camera.

          USB3.0 industrial camera acquisition card

          For the USB3.0 interface. Now the new computers are all equipped. However, the drive uniformity of USB3.0 is not ideal. Some cameras may not be able to drive under USB3.0 of some chipsets. There is a phenomenon of selecting video capture card.

          GigE industrial camera acquisition card

          Cameralink HS interface

The bandwidth and transmission distance of Cameralink HS interface are better than that of Cameralink interface.           Nbase-t interface

          Nbase-t technology is a new network technology led by nbase-t alliance. By defining a new Ethernet signal mode, the twisted pair used for transmission of ordinary gigabit network interface can break the limit of 1Gbps / s in the transmission range of 100m; by using CAT5e and CAT6 cabling, the bandwidth can reach 2.5Gbps and 5Gbps.

          Coaxpress interface

When there are more cameras, we should try our best to use video capture card controlled by independent chip of each interface, or use one card for each camera.
